THE DAY THE PRIME MINISTER CAME TO WELSHPOOL

Today the 23rd February, the Prime Minister came to Welshpool to award Brooke and Tom their School Captain badges.  There were camera people everywhere.  The whole town was basically at the school.  Mr Howard was only here for 20 minutes.  I hope he enjoyed coming to our school and I also hope we were good enough.  I hope he comes back soon.  I think most of us enjoyed him.

Monday was exciting because John Howard came to our school to present the School Captain badges.  I got to shake his hand.  There were guards and police and news reporters and radio people here, and a lot of cameras.  Most of the people with Mr Howard came in Fords.  Mr Howard was dressed funny.  Then Tom and Brooke made a speech.  I thought they did well with the speeches.  Then the captains showed Mr Howard their rooms for about 5 minutes.  Then he was getting ready to leave.  When he left everyone was yelling and saying good-bye.

I think it was a great honour to have the Prime Minister at this school and I had a great time.  I am glad I was at school today to see him come, though there were heaps of cameramen and lots of interviewers.  I asked a question and got on telly.  I asked “why are taxes so high?”

THOUGHTS OF MONDAY 23RD FEBRUARY:

I was nervous and excited

People are pushing me around

I’m  confused

The people are loud and climbing over the furniture

His hands are warm

People are everywhere

 I’m boxed in
