INTERNET

ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY

In order for students at Welshpool & District Primary School to be able to use the school's Internet connection, they must have read these guidelines and signed our 'Internet User Agreement' . The agreement must also be counter-signed by a parent or guardian.

The most important prerequisite for someone to have access to an Internet connection is that he or she take full responsibility for his or her own actions.

The primary, and sole, purpose of the Welshpool & District Primary School Internet connection is educational. It is essential that everyone who agrees to these guidelines understand that purpose. No user shall use this Internet link to perform any act that may be regarded as illegal or unethical. Any use of the school's Internet connection for illegal or unethical purposes shall result in the user being suspended from access to be determined by the Principal.

A service provider, approved by the Department of Education and Training (DE&T), which provides filtered internet access will be used. It is unlikely that any inappropriate material could be accessed through a web browser.

No student shall be permitted to use programs (unless freeware or shareware), or transfer files from programs, that have been brought from outside the school. Any program used, or FTP procedure must be approved by a teacher.

Finally, all users of the school's Internet link should be aware that when using the Internet, they are entering a global community, and all of their actions reflect directly upon Welshpool & District Primary School. As such, all users must behave in a legal and ethical manner.
